OUR MILESTONES

1935

Founded as Humble Employees Baytown Federal Credit Union

We received a federal charter as Humble Employees Baytown Federal Credit Union in 1935.

1949 - Move to Humble Commissary

1955

The Credit Union achieved $1.1 Million

in assets

1957 - The Credit Union opened its' own office on Market Street.

1962 - We converted to a state charter to offer more progressive services to our members.

1968 - Credit Union began providing Share Drafts (Checking) to members

1969

The Credit Union achieved $10 million
in assets

1969 - The Credit Union offers its first credit card product to members.

1970 - The Credit Union changes their name to Humble Credit Union & purchased two and a half acres for the present site of Decker Drive.

1972

Humble Credit Union built new headquarters on Decker Drive

1972 - We begin moving to our new building on Decker Drive

1973

We changed our name to Exxon Baytown Credit Union

We change our name to Exxon Baytown Credit Union to reflect the change in our sponsor's name.

1975

We merge with with U.S. Steel Employees

The Credit Union honors a request from the National Credit Union Administration to accept employees of the U.S. Steel - Texas Works Credit Union.

1975 - We begin offering Certificate of Deposits (CDs) to our members.

1976 - Went live on TCUL EDS Data Processing System

1980

Opened drive-thru at Decker Drive

1981 - The Credit Union achieves $70.7 million in assets

1983 - An automated teller machine (ATM) was installed

1984 - Drive-thru hours were extended to better serve our members

1985

Exxon Baytown Credit Union celebrated 50 years of service!

We were ranked as the 7th largest state-charted credit union in the State.

1986 - Our assets reach $100 million and we became Harris County's largest credit union

1992 - Membership was extended to include Baytown Medical Center Campus (Humana)

1994

We change our name to Southwest Resource Credit Union

Our field of membership is expanded to offer service to members within a ten mile radius of our location.

1994 - We open our Mortgage Loan Department to serve those members in the housing market.

1999 - Introduced home banking and bill pay

2003

Announced name change to Community Resource Credit Union

2004 - Opened Alexander Drive Branch

2004 - Merged with Baytown Teachers Credit Union

2005

Introduced Business Services

2007 - Opened Crosby Branch!

2007 - In July of 2007, the board of directors named a new CEO, David Frazier.

2008 - Reopened within 72 hours of Hurricane Ike

2009 - Opened Garth Branch and launched new CRCU website

2010

Celebrated 75 Years of Safety, Strength & Stability!

2011 - Introduced mobile banking for IOS and Android operating systems

2011 - Voted 3rd Time in a row - Best Financial Institution in the Baytown Sun's Readers' Choice

2013

We opened our Atascocita Branch

2015 - We expanded membership to include Liberty County

2016 - We expanded membership to include Chambers County

2016 - We opened another CRCU branch in Mont Belvieu, Texas

2016

We opened our Mont Belvieu Branch

2016 - We expanded membership to include Chambers County

2017 - We opened our HWY 146 Branch

2018 - Break ground for new Headquarters location

2019 - CRCU introduces their Power of Community volunteer initiative to staff and community

2019

The credit union moves into the new CRCU Headquarters location

2020 - We expanded membership to include Chambers County & celebrates its 85th anniversary

2020 - 2021 – Amid the challenges of COVID-19, CRCU remained fully operational, supporting our members with digital banking solutions, special relief loans, online chat support, and an easy online loan application to help navigate uncertain times.

2023

CRCU employee volunteered over 575 hours to our local community

2023 - CRCU grows to over 800 million in assets & over 56,000 members

2024 - CRCU opens their 8th branch in New Caney, Texas

2025

CRCU celebrates its 90th Anniversary
