Frequently Asked Questions About Your New Card

ABOUT YOUR NEW CARD

Why am I getting a new credit card?

CRCU has partnered with a new credit card processing provider to bring you improved security features, better fraud protection technology, and a more convenient card experience. This change requires that all credit cardholders receive a new card.

Why is my card number changing?

Your new credit card comes with a new number as part of our processor change. This actually benefits you—having a separate card number means that if your card is ever lost or stolen, we can replace it more quickly without disrupting your underlying account.

Will my interest rate or credit limit change?

If you previously had a legacy CRCU credit card, including Mastercard Classic, Mastercard Platinum, or Mastercard Platinum Cashback, then yes, your rate will change from fixed to a low variable rate. Your existing balance will be protected at your current rate until the upgrade takes effect, and it is paid in full. Only new purchases or transactions after the upgrade would be subject to the new variable rate.

  • Mastercard Classic – Yes, rates will change
  • Mastercard Platinum – Yes, rates will change
  • Mastercard Platinum Cashback – Yes, rates will change

  • Mastercard MyPath – No, rates remain the same
  • Mastercard Secured – No, rate remains the same
  • Mastercard World – No, rates remain the same
  • Mastercard Business w/Rewards – No, rates remain the same

When does my old CRCU credit card expire?

Your current CRCU credit card will stop working on July 20, 2026, regardless of the expiration date printed on it. Please activate your new card on or after July 20, 2026.

What new features does the credit card have?

Your new CRCU Mastercard includes:

  • A fresh, updated card design
  • Enhanced fraud protection technology
  • Contactless (tap-to-pay) capability for faster checkout at participating merchants
  • Compatibility with Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay

For Member Select Rewards World and Rewards Business Mastercard holders:  Your new card also comes with a rewards program. We'll share full details about earning and redeeming rewards in a separate communication coming soon.

ACTIVATION & PIN

How & when can I activate my new card?

Call the phone number on the activation sticker attached to the front of your new card. Your new credit card will be ready to activate starting July 20, 2026. You can activate it by calling the Card Activation & PIN Management toll-free number at 888-891-2435. Once it's activated, your new card is ready to use right away. For security, you'll need to call from the phone number we have on file for your account. If you're unsure which number is on file or no longer have access to it, please visit any CRCU branch for assistance.

What happens to my old card on July 20th?

On July 20, 2026, your current card will be automatically deactivated. We recommend activating your new card on or shortly after that date to avoid any interruption.

What if I'm traveling or unavailable on July 20th?

You can activate your new credit card on or after July 20, 2026. If you won’t be available that day, we recommend activating your card as soon as you’re able to avoid any interruption in service. If you have concerns about timing or access, please contact us before July 20—we’re happy to work with you to help ensure a smooth transition.

Will my old PIN work with my new credit card?

No. Your old PIN will not carry over. You will need to select a new PIN by calling the number provided with your new card. A PIN will not be mailed separately.

Why is my PIN changing?

As part of the card upgrade process, your PIN will be reset. This is a standard security measure with any new card issuance. Rather than mailing a PIN, we've made it easy for you to set one up yourself by calling our Card Activation & PIN Management line at 888-891-2435. That way, you can choose your PIN securely and at your convenience.

How do I set up my new PIN?

For security purposes, PIN mailers will not be sent out. Instead, you can set up your new PIN quickly and easily by calling our Card Activation & PIN Management toll-free number at 888-891-2435. The automated system will walk you through the process. We recommend doing this when you activate your card on or after July 20, 2026.

Can I choose my own PIN?

Yes! When you call 888-891-2435, you'll be able to select your own PIN through our secure automated system. It's a quick process, and you can call at any time.

RECURRING PAYMENTS & MOBILE WALLET

Do I need to update my recurring payments?

Yes. Because your new card has a new number, expiration date, and CVV, you'll need to update any merchant or service that saved your old card for automatic payments. Common examples include:

  • Streaming services (Netflix, Hulu, Spotify, etc.)
  • Utilities (electric, water, internet, phone)
  • Insurance premiums
  • Subscription services (Amazon, gym memberships, meal kits, etc.)
  • Rideshare or delivery apps (Uber, DoorDash, etc.)

We recommend making a list of all the places where your card is saved before activating your new card.

Do I need to update my mobile wallet?

Yes. After activating your new card, open your mobile wallet (Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay), remove your old CRCU credit card, and add your new one. Your old card information will no longer work for mobile payments.

What if I'm expecting a refund on my old card?

Any refund credited to your old card number will still post to your account without any issues. No action is needed on your part.

What if I had the legacy Rewards Cashback card? When will I receive my final cash-back credit?

Your cash back rewards will be credited to your statement as part of the transition.

  • The program ends officially on June 30, 2026
  • Cashback credits will be issued on July 15, 2026, as a statement credit

You should have received specific details in your mailing about when to expect that final credit. If you didn't receive that information or have questions about the timing, I'd be happy to look into your account.

REWARDS PROGRAM & REWARDS MASTERCARDS

MemberSelect Rewards Mastercard & Business Rewards Mastercard

I have a Member Select Rewards World or Business Rewards Mastercard. What's happening with rewards?

Your new card comes with a rewards program that lets you earn on the purchases you're already making. We're finalizing the program details and will share a full breakdown—including how to earn points, redemption options, and any registration steps—in a follow-up communication coming soon. Keep an eye on your mailbox and inbox!

Do I need to do anything to enroll in the Rewards Program?

We'll provide complete enrollment instructions when we share your rewards program details. For now, just activate your new card and start using it—we'll take care of the rest.

How do I know my points won’t be lost?

Your reward points are safe and will carry over during the transition to the new platform. We’ll share more details soon on how to access and manage your rewards.

For your records, we recommend taking note or a screenshot of your current points balance before the transition. If you have any concerns, we’re here to help.

When is the last day members will be able to access their credit card via mobile banking single sign-on?

We need this answer from FIS.

When will I be able to see my existing rewards on the new platform?

This is still TBD, but you may want to keep in mind.

PAYMENTS & ACCOUNT ACCESS

Will my payment due date change?

No, your credit card terms and conditions for the account remain the same.

How do I make a payment on my new credit card?

You can continue to make credit card payments through the same channels you use today, including online banking, mobile banking, by phone, by mail, or at any CRCU branch location.

What happens to my existing balance?

Your current balance transfers automatically to your new card. There's nothing you need to do—all outstanding balances, available credit, and transaction history will carry over.

Will my AutoPay transfer to my new card automatically?
Account Auto-pay functionality and current cardholder elections will not be transferred to the new processor. Cardholders will need to establish a new auto-payment plan on the new credit card platform.

Will my alert settings transfer to my new card?
No, alert settings will not be transferred to the new processor. Upon conversion, cardholders will need to re-establish the alerts.

SECURITY & FRAUD

Is my new contactless credit card secure?

Absolutely. Contactless cards use near-field communication (NFC) technology that transmits data only over a very short range. The card cannot be cloned by a reader, and each transaction generates a unique, one-time code that can't be reused. It's one of the safest ways to pay.

What should I do if I suspect fraud on my new card?

Contact us immediately at [FRAUD PHONE NUMBER], available 24/7. You can also lock your card instantly through CRCU's online banking or mobile app.

I haven't received my new credit card. What should I do?

If you haven't received your new card by [EXPECTED DELIVERY + BUFFER DATE], please call us at (281) 420-3746 or visit any CRCU branch for a replacement.

JOINT & AUTHORIZED USERS

Will my spouse or authorized user receive a new credit card, too?

Yes. Each cardholder on the account will receive their own new card with a unique card number for added security. Cards may arrive separately, but you'll still receive one combined statement.
