Giving Back to the Communities We Serve

On Monday, October 12, 2026, CRCU employees stepped away from their everyday roles and into the community for Powered by Purpose, our first companywide day of service.

 

163 team members took part in 10 volunteer projects with nine local organizations across our service areas. Together, we gave 660 hours of service, an estimated $23,870 in economic impact for the communities we serve.

As a credit union, we’re owned by our members and rooted in the communities where they live and work. Powered by Purpose was one way to put that into action.

Where We'll Be Serving

 

ACE District Baytown

Our volunteers picked up litter and cleaned up public spaces to make the district more welcoming for residents, businesses, and visitors.

Baytown Habitat for Humanity

Habitat runs with a small staff, so our team helped behind the scenes. We organized and filed documents, scanned records, and got the office in order so their staff can spend more time serving local families.

Eddie V. Gray Wetlands Center

Our biggest project of the day, with 156 volunteer hours. At the Baytown Nature Center, our team picked up litter along the coastline, planted flowers, and refreshed flower beds throughout the park.

Bridgehaven Children's Advocacy Center

We helped make Bridgehaven a brighter, more welcoming space for the children and families it serves. Our volunteers painted areas throughout the facility and organized the storage space so resources are easier to find.

Churches United in Caring

Our team gave 100 hours here. We learned how Churches United in Caring uses its resale shops to fund food, housing assistance, utility payments, gas cards, and emergency shelter. Then we got to work sorting clothing, doing light painting and yard work, organizing toys for Christmas distribution, and preparing items for their annual Christmas Market.

Hearts & Hands of Baytown

Our volunteers painted and labeled shipping containers to make them organized, usable spaces. We also assembled essentials kits for neighbors experiencing homelessness and meal kits for families in need.

Holocaust Remembrance Association

Each volunteer painted a remembrance rock honoring a child who lost their life in the Holocaust, and the group assembled rock painting kits for Humble ISD students. At Holocaust Remembrance Park, we took a tour led by a family member of a Holocaust survivor, then cleaned the gardens, painted benches, and planted flowers.

Mont Belvieu Animal Services

Our volunteers spent 88.5 hours cleaning kennels, putting down fresh bedding, refilling food and water, and taking the dogs out for exercise. Most of all, we spent time with the animals and gave them the attention they deserve.

Mission Northeast

Mission Northeast provides clothing, food, and emergency assistance to families in East Montgomery County. Our volunteers sorted clothing for families to shop, prepared personal care kits, and assembled laundry detergent bags for distribution.
