Anyone who has income from compensation (or who is filing jointly with a spouse who earns compensation) with the following MAGI - Modified Adjusted Gross Income:

 

  • Up to $95,000 (single filers)
  • Up to $150,000 (joint filers)

Withdraw contributions tax-free if used for qualifying expenses.

The maximum contribution limit is $2,000 per child, per year. Contributions are not tax-deductible. Contributions are not allowed once the beneficiary of the Education IRA reaches age 18, or during any year that a contribution has been made to a state tuition program for the same ESA beneficiary. Consult your tax advisor about ESA eligibility, contribution qualifications and earnings.
